“GREEN GENERATIONS” by Greek Youth Mobility
From April 20 to 28, our volunteers Jakub, Monika, Aleksandra, Igor and Tomasz had the opportunity to participate in an International Youth Exchange. Accompanied by young people from other European countries (Romania, Italy, France and Greece), they were part of a program called ‘Green Generations’, which took place in Kastoria, Greece.
As the name suggests, the theme of the program was ecology. It aimed to raise awareness about the climate change we are facing. Through a number of activities and debates among the participants, they were able to creatively find ideas for implementing actions that improve the quality of life and balance our impact on the environment and climate.
The Mię∂zyan international youth exchange allowed the participants to broaden their perspectives related to the topic itself, but also to experience completely new and unusual experiences and meet wonderful young people.
Below are the opinions and feelings of our volunteers related to the exchange in Kastoria.
Tomasz:
Erasmus was one of the best experiences of my life. The project theme was pretty interesting because I found out it was something I knew little about. To be honest, the best part of it was the people that surrounded me every day. Smart and playful at the same time is the best combination.
Monika:
The project gave me a very positive environment and wonderful people. Language was created to communicate – this is the first and most important thing I learned. By talking to other people from different countries, I broadened my knowledge not only about simple habits, but also about other people’s difficulties of daily life. I became more aware of the economic and ecological situation in different countries and how it affects the world. I experienced many precious moments and I have redefined all the previously existing barriers, limitations and stereotypes. As a result I’m more open-minded now.
Jakub:
The project was very intresting, entertaining and insightful. I’ve gained a lot of knowladge about ecooogy and got to know how the situation with recycling and eco-friendly attitude looks like in different countries. I had the opportunity to share my thoughts about Poland’s ecological issues. I got inspired how to deal with some problems with other countries ways. Moreover, the project delivered plenty of cross-cultural knowladge and i was delighted to share polish traditions, language and cuisine with other nationalities participants!
Igor:
The project in Greece gave me a new insight into the topic of ecology. I was able to learn a lot about ecological footprint and CO2 emissions. During this week I have met a lot of new people who had similar mindset about this topic to me. I had amazing time during cultural night where I shared my home country traditions and culture. It was a pleasure to participate in such a great Erasmus+ project.
Aleksandra:
The “Green Generations” project has given me, first of all, a great deal of knowledge related to current issues of ecology and environmental protection from an international perspective. Thanks to the experiences of young people from different European countries, I was able to expand my knowledge on the topic. Every opinion mattered and I listened to each one with equal interest – people are amazing and can provide a lot of inspiration. In addition to expanding my knowledge on ecology, I had the opportunity to meet wonderful, open-minded and smiling people, whom I can now proudly call friends. The opportunity to talk together, sing or learn about each other’s cultures (for example through cultural evenings) is something I will always be grateful for!
