The right to choose – choose right!
Project “The right to choose – choose right!” was the result of cooperation of 6 groups of young people from Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Macedonia, Italy and Cyprus, together 42 people. Through integration, friendship development and participation in the implementation of the schedule, each of us strived to achieve the basic objectives: to gain knowledge about parliamentary mechanisms and in particular about the European Parliament, to develop information and promotion materials and to launch a campaign promoting participation in the European elections. Our project was in line with the objectives of the Erasmus + program, contributed to promoting civic attitudes, spreading civic activity and, thanks to the presence of young people from different parts of Europe, we have also strengthened intercultural dialogue. The project consisted of 2 main activities: preparatory visit of 6 leaders on 29-30.03.2019 and youth exchange on 14-20.04.2019. Both activities have been implemented in Wierzchosławice. In the vast majority our activities were based on non-formal education methods. The main methods of work included: integration games, group presentations, selfpresentations, discussions in the group and on the forum, simulations of the European Parliament, field workshops, working with social media, everyday moments of reflection, national evenings, evaluation activities and others. Thanks to our project, we became conscious citizens, which translates into both domestic activity, participation in elections, non-governmental and social organizations, involvement in the activities of local authorities, work with youth and for the benefit of young people. The project has developed in us the skills of discussing, arguing, daring for public speaking, asking questions, interest in youth problems and indicating the possibilities and means to solve them. Thanks to the intensive campaign after the exchange our project also partially helps to solve the problem of low turnout in elections, in particular to the European Parliament and low activity of European youth in social and political life.
