Nine months that will stay with me forever

By Nadia Daniłowa:

“From October 2025 to June 2026, I had the great pleasure of participating in a European Solidarity Corps project in Split, with the Udruga Mi Split organization.
It’s hard to believe how quickly these nine months flew by – they were full of challenges, new experiences, and people who will remain in my memory forever.
I spent most of my time at the Golden Age Centre, where I led creative workshops, Polish language lessons, and dance classes for seniors. Each meeting was different, but one thing remained constant – the smiles of the participants and the incredible atmosphere, which made me happy to return every day. I also had the opportunity to visit schools, high schools, and universities, where I talked about the ESC program and encouraged young people to experience their own volunteering adventure.
Besides volunteering, I was exploring Croatia and its unique corners. I visited, among others, Zadar, Makarska, Dubrovnik, Omiš, the islands of Vis and Hvar, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Each trip was an opportunity to discover new places, people, and local culture, as well as to create memories that will stay with me for years to come.
This trip taught me much more than I expected. I became more independent, braver, and open to the world. However, what I will remember most is not the beautiful views, but the people – the kindness of my mentors, the support of the entire team, the friendships that arose during the project, and the joy the beneficiaries shared with me every day.
I came to Croatia with curiosity and a desire to experience something new, and I left with the feeling that I had gained a second home, many beautiful memories, and an experience that will stay with me for life.”
